    Hi!
Lindner hotel has a promotion for EU residents giving 10% off for every 100km away you're living from the hotel for up to 3 nights. Basically for Irish residents that should mean 100% in any of their hotels (only for stays starting Fri/Sat for Citi hotels or Sun/Mon/Tuesday for Resort hotels).

    http://www.lindner.de/en/promotion/summerdiscount/?et_rp=1

Take care: Only when you can book the "Kilometer-Discount" rate, this is applicable and the discount will be deducted at check-in.

I just booked 2 nights in Frankfurt in August.

Looks like it, when I booked an hour ago it was really fast :)

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 376 ✭✭dos30

When booking does it include the discount?

This is what I am seeing when I click check availability

    Kilometer-Discount
    • 10% discount per 100km travel distance!
    • for more details please click!
    • excl.breakfast

Run of the House EUR 54.00

Would've thought the price would say EUR 0?

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 30 thesmiler

This is correct. Discount will be given at Check-In. 54 Euro is the rack rate here, so you chose one of their cheaper places.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 225 ✭✭bluefirefly

wow!! thats a pretty good deal!!
    But thats just insane!!

OP when are you going off? It would be great to see if you came back to confirm you paid nothing for the hotel

Gay. Will be in Berlin, Hamburg, Cologne, Munich and Vienna in August. No free hotels in any of them.

I've picked a hotel in Frankfurt for 3 nights, bill comes to €450 for the hotel, I'm just concerned that I'll be charged that if there's something dodgy with the deal?

    You get refunded afterwards?

You don't pay in advance, you leave your credit card only for the guarantee (if you don't show up and don't cancel they will charge you I guess).

I'm only going end of August, so won't be able to report back in time.
As of the other guy, yes you should be ok and not need to pay 450 Eur if the booking you make is in the "Kilometer-Discount" tariff. But why not make a (cancellable) reservation and call them for confirmation that you'll get this for free when you show up?

Just booked the Landshut hotel, good 'n' close to Munich - although last train leaving munich at night is 22.45. Looks good!

I have checked loads of possible dates and hotels and none are coming up free ?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 376 ✭✭dos30

    I booked Frankfurt August 13th - 15th.

Anyone going before me that can confirm it's actually free?

Why don't you call the hotel and confirm with them? I heard they'll happily confirm this on the phone.

Good idea on calling them! The one I was looking at have a 30 day cancellation policy or you're charged 90% ouch :D

I will book and then call, thanks op!

    Good on, OP..;)

Just booked a 3night stay for mid-August at Lindner Hotel Eifeldorf Nürburgring on Kilometer-Discount (includes breakfast) on a 1 day cancellation policy..

Now off to plan my road/ferry trip and tune my E60 for some autobahn driving and a few laps around the ring :D

I've booked for 3 nights in August in a hotel in Austria.. rate description is 'Rate Description: Summer Saver Rate'.

Sent them an email to clarify that it'll be free! fingers crossed.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 308 ✭✭another native

I am still drooling over that incredible offer and wondering if there's a hidden catch. Oh me of little faith!

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 30 thesmiler

Shzm: Summer saver rate is another offer, unless you find the rate "Kilometer-Discount" I think it won't be free.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 947 ✭✭✭Shzm

Ah ok. Yeah I wasn't too sure which is why I emailed. If it's not free i'll just cancel so.

I just called customer care to book in Interlaken, but the operator said they dont have any rooms left on that offer.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 954 ✭✭✭BluE-WinG

Booked the 4 star hotel in Frankfurt, from Saturday - Monday (2nights) late in August got the discount km offer no problem. Hotel is in the city centre too.. Absolutely great deal, thanks op.

I would imagine there needs to be a catch. Maybe the discount is a reducing balance, rather than straight line.

    Ie for a 100eur hotel

    90
    82
    74

    not

    90
    80
    70

    Ive no idea though

    I thought this too.
But on the site it says 1,000km = 100% discount

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 954 ✭✭✭BluE-WinG

I think the catch is youre supposed to live on the continent hence not be more than 1000km away.. we just happened to be one if not the only EU country that is > 1000km away. Because it does state its only open to EU countries and Switzerland..

Thats my take on it anyway..

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,098 ✭✭✭Johnny_Fontane

booked three nights in frankfurt and three nights in speyer.....

    what a deal!:D

Thats my take on it anyway..

I remember seeing a banner on the promotion page showing 100% discount for a resident of Hamburg booking their Klagenfurt Austria.. Checked the distance in google maps and it is indeed 1125 kms approx from Hamburg to Klagenfurt!

It does seem strange that one can stay in one of their hotels for three nights (including breakfast in my case) and not pay a cent at checkout (assuming no other payable services are utilised during the stay), but hey, I'm not complaining! :D

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 30 thesmiler

I don't see where the issue is and why people are looking for the catch. Maybe as a German I'm more used to these kind of promotions, but they do exist occassionally.

Yes, it is a great offer, and obviously with the non-marketed audience (Irish residence) it's even better. But I don't see how you can not accept free hotel rooms which would probably otherwise stay empty in a very limited availability (and most of the rooms do not include breakfast) but you can accept 1-5 Euro flights including taxes and fees as a "normality". Both are exactly the same: Promotional offers.

Deciding where to go, Vienna or Frankfurt??

Best BA of the YEAR, btw.:D

    Thanks OP

there are rules about what night your stay must start = if you are choosing to start on a night outside of the offer then you will get a different offer instead e.g. Summer saver rate

I booked frankfurt, and paid the 4 euro extra to fly aerlingus.. Into frankfurt too I might add. 158 euro was the flight price vs 154 euro ryanair..

Aer Lingus flies to the main Frankfurt airport or Duesseldorf (which might be cheaper). Doubt in August you get a really low fare though.

Everything else seems to be at least an hour away (Oberstaufen from Memmingen for example)

Just back from a drive-trip to Nurburgring last week after staying in the Lindner Eifeldorf Grune Holle hotel there for three nights.. The hotel was quiet and understated, but still excellent in terms of the room and location. Had a great time though the weather was miserable which meant I couldn't drive in the Ring as much as I would have liked to (just 4 laps ). Indulged in a lot of the indoor karting and countryside driving though..

Total bill came to 18 Euros and this was just for 3 days parking (no charge on Kilometer discount as expected for the hotel stay and the included breakfast! :D)

A great bargain and a great holiday! Kudos to OP for his post..:)

P.S: Happened to notice a 98 KE reg Merc when I checked out on wednesday last, is it someone from boards.ie?

I just checked out of two days at the Lindner Frankfurt Main Plaza - I wasn't even given a bill as I gave the Minibar a miss... Nice central location, normal price would have been maybe a bit high, but it's a very nice place with a great view!
