iPod Touch Crashing in Safari

I recently updated my iPod Touch (bought this April, not sure what generation it would be) to OS 4.0, and since then pretty much every time I use Safari it restarts itself, to the extent it's nearly unusable some of the time. Is this a known problem? Do I need to go back to my previous software? Or is there another way to fix it? It's getting on my nerves as I use my iPod for internet quite a bit, so any help would be appreciated.

You should restore it. Plug it into iTunes and sync it, every time it syncs it backs up all your files and settings. Once it's synced hit the restore button. Once it's finished restoring it will ask to you want to start fresh or load from backup. Load the last backup and you should be back up and running with safari in full working order. It only takes 20 minutes or so to restore the iPod but it can take quiet a while to load the backup depending on the amount of data you had on it.
