I need to replace the 2 rear shocks on the 2wd X Trail. Was quoted €220 for the right side and €280 for the left plus labour and VAT coming to a total in excess of €800
I could not believe the cost (from one of Irelands largest Nissan dealerships)

Tried getting a few quotes from Advance pitstop type garages and none of them seem to be able to supply these shocks and it seems Nissan know it.

Can anyone recommend anywhere in Dublin I can try?
    Cheers
    W.

Price the same parts from a garage in Northern Ireland, could be a lot cheaper.

i am a bit confused why different prices for shocks..
    very odd

why not buy them on ebay.. such as
    http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/NISSAN-XTRAIL-X-TRAIL-SHOCK-ABSORBER-REAR_W0QQitemZ330210800168QQcmdZViewItem?hash=item330210800168&_trksid=p3286.c0.m14&_trkparms=72%3A1301%7C39%3A1%7C66%3A2%7C65%3A12%7C240%3A1318

75stg each plus 9.99 postage and packing.. ... makes more sense
have a local mech do it or better still do it yourself...
    save a fortune...

    irish dealers = irish stealers!!

i would price off your local auto factors and then a price a local mechanic on a price to fit them!!

Shocks are massive money from any dealer. They can also be very labour intensive to install on certain cars. Having said that, go North every time.

Always get a price up the North, it will nearly always be cheaper.

    Had similar experience.
    Front shocks for Nissan Primera.
    Price per one.
In the north - 120 sterling + VAT.
In Nissan dealer in the Republic - 250 euros + VAT.

This are original nissan shocks made by monroe.

In comparision I found I can get KYB shocks for my Nissan for less than a 100 euros gross, in Poland. And that's where I'm going to get them.

    Hi
I recently bought shocks from Micksgarage.ie that were 45 each as opposed to over twice that anywhere else for the rear of my Focus. Got local mechanic to fit them only charged 30 for the job! They were kyb shocks also even tho site said they supply lips shocks but kyb are better known and was same price. Ordered on a tuesday and arrived on Wed morning.
    Thanks
    Gav
