I am getting my bathroom in my holiday home renovated and was wondering if there is a shower trap that can help seperate the sand to stop it running into the main drain.

not that i know off sorry.

Can you put a silt trap on the drain further down the line and let it lodge here. Although you will have to clean it out.

i have never had to fit one so am unsure. If you call into providers around you they will show you one. You usually fit them like a grease trap ie between the unit(shower) in your case and the pipe to the sewer or septic tank.

You will still have the shower trap and will still need to clean this.
