Interview with current employer question...

I have an interview coming up very soon with my current employer for the next position up from where I am at the moment. I think I'm in with a good chance for it as I have done nothing but prove myself time and time again. My only worry is that he has heard somehow that I had applied for a different job and recently had an interview for it, I havent heard anything back from them but I know they haven't employed anyone yet so there could still be a chance. I worry that he is holding this against me as he is doing alot of fishing and asking around about it and basically questioning my loyalty to the company. Can he bring this up in the interview seeing as I never actually told him and it doesn't have anything to do with the job as it were?
I actually applied for the other job around 2 months ago and it was purely because I have been fighting for my first ever payrise in 4 years to no avail and at the time there was no chance for progression at all, it doesn't seem fair that this can be held against me?

I think you are worrying about nothing.
If your boss does bring it up about you going for a different job then he would be very unprofessional but i doubt he will.
He probably is just a bit worried that he might loose a good employee to another company and have to spend time and money training someone else if you leave.
    Good luck any way.

    Thanks!
There are a few other things that complicate the whole situation and make this bit about me being in for another job alot more significant, but without going in to detail basically due to the staffing structure as it is the place would be quite literally screwed if I was to get the job with my current employer, then by chance get the offer from the other place and take it...having both my current position and the one I've the interview for vacant would be a complete nightmare. It's that and the constant questioning that makes me fear he will take the easy way out and just bring someone new in for it regardless, that way it's only half the damage done if I was to leave. And also knowing what he's like doesn't help
I really do hope I am just over analysing it all and worrying over nothing, as long as I get a fair chance to prove myself one last time in the interview I'll be happy!

On a side note though, should you shake hands at the start of the interview despite already knowing them?? I always associate shaking hands with someone you don't know so I'm not too sure if I should go for it, or let them take the lead? Over analysing again probably but don't want to look like a numpty when my handshake is greeted with a weird look!
