No, the vast majority of it is crap. Maybe not cheese, but certainly crap. It's such a chore to find good music. I try and look for new stuff twice a week - and it's taking longer and longer to wade through the dross. On Saturday I spent maybe 7 hours (on and off), and had 11 tracks in my crate at the end of the day.

I can't do it, takes too long to get nowhere. I much prefer finding out about tracks by listening to mixes and threads with new tunes and the like. So much easier and less frustrating.

not just you. beatport's beyond a joke.

I don't think I've ever used beatport to find music. A new great way to get music I've found is to pick one of the biggest artist you like, and see if there's a forum for them. There's one for Aphex Twin etc, and it'll just be full of people who like more of less the same music as you do, posting tunes you'll probably like.

The trick with Beatport is to have plenty of your fav artists / labels added to your account, so everytime you log on it shows up all the new releases on by said artists / labels. This can also be filtered up to 8 weeks back I think.

I've long since given up trawling through all the trash on there in the standard manner! Plenty of great stuff if you do what I do and know where to look - keeps the quality control high too.

There's also other great sites like Stompy and Junodownload and decks.de and Juno for vinyl. Sticking to just the same site for all your music is lame and lazy and also means your missing out on tons of great music too.

Remember, 95% of most things (not only music) are sh*te!

Yeah, cheese is probably not the right word, but crap certainly sums it up. It's very frustrating. Lately when I find a few tracks I like, I leave them sitting in the hold bin for a couple of days before I purchase them, because occasionally my crap-detector isn't operating at 100% and I'll have downloaded utter rubbish.

Not so much right now (I must get back into it) the main way I was finding tracks was simply by listening to mixes and finding the track names from accompanying tracklists. I like hearing a track in the context of a mix and not just on its own too. Actually I've found so many great tracks this way, and not necessarily from superstar dj mixes, actually probably moreso from dj's just like you and me - the members mixes thread, soundcloud, and other forums.

Actually I've been meaning to do a big refresh of all the music in my car and burn a heap of cd's with mixes from you lads. Please send me anything you think I'd like :)

Resident Advisor, and Facebook if you follow the artist, they will usually post their respective charts on their wall.

Not big DJs, just a few small name DJs posting charts all the time.
