Having read through a few threads, it seems to me that she is the most disliked of all the characters. The only thing is that I don't dislike her at all. I would like to know why so many here hate her.

Couldn't stand her character in the 2nd season. Just annoying as hell. This season though her storyline is better so the dislike has lessened significantly.

She was a bit annoying but has gotten better. This season is feckin great. I wonder will Frankin turn her.

I guess because she is so outspoken and feisty. I've liked her character all through out season one and two and this season is just fantastic.

I liked her at first but as it's gone on she's just ended up going from outspoken to loud and whiney.

I had no issue with her being outspoken at all or strong spirited or a surviour but they have broken her so she is scared, whiney and pitiful, which really annoys me.
It's like they are trying to snuff her spirit out and punish the charchter being as strong will and determined woman esp when compared to Jason.

    +1

At the start, she was really funny and mouthy. Then after a few episodes they turned her into a totally whiney individual who believed in voodoo, a whiney individual that ignored her own instinct about Mary-Anne and went running back to her after the intervention, a suicidal individual when Eggs was shot in the head for being a serial killer...
Even Arleen didn't go off the deep end when Renée turned out to be the first series serial killer.
Simply put, she has just been written as desperate and pathetic with only the odd good line in a show full of good lines. I preferred her when she was mouthy tbh.

I've started to like her again this season: the way she's turning on the charm with Franklin and things to try and get her way is brilliant. We haven't seen that side of her before. In general, she seems to be getting a way better story line this season. Hopefully they'll keep writing good plotlines for her and don't turn her back into that mess we've had to put up with.

Hmmm Tara is an unusual character, she has depth but i don't think they developed it as well as they could have. I quite liked her in Season One, she was strong and tough and viewers could relate to her because of her home circumstances but Season Two she became weak and her character got holes in it and although lots of people seem to have liked Eggs, i dont think his character was ever explored either. I didnt really enjoy the MaryAnn storyline, although no doubt it was popular with many people on this. I think it would have worked if it didnt take over the entire Season. Tara appears much differently in the books (and i hate comparing print and screen but in this case i can't help it), she seems tough and entreprenurial and strong in the books but in the seasons she just crumbles as a character over time. This is of course just my opinion but her mother went nuts around her and disowns her, Eggs goes crazy, she goes crazy...this girl is a catalyst for crazy :)

I cant stand her. The sooner she dies in a horrific fashion the better!

I can't stand her, everyone in the series is victimised, what annoys me is that she palys it up so much. Everyone else picks themselves up and gets on. She's always "oh poor be i'm cursed", "poor me i'd a terrible childhood" blah blah, basically i find her incredibly whiney.

I like her when shes really raw and vulgar :P

    Girls got 'tude

But the whole racism thing is takin the piss

Theres a minisode of S02 where Sookie calls her racist, its funny

Shes been all over the shop for S03

Apparently shes an irrelevant character in the books

    but yeah, i like her

    C'mon, sure she's Irish n all n anyways

I liked her in Season 1, but in Season two she really started to grate on me. I like her when she's feisty and outspoken but not when she's all whiny. I just find it funny that she's such a major character in the show, when in the books she only puts in brief appearances. I've only seen clips of Season 3, so not sure what to make of her just yet. Can't wait until it's out over here!

haha i picked the worst time to read the books for a show / film as people always say they're better. dont think ill bother

Doesn't really matter, the books and tv series have completely diverged. Can't stand Tara because all she does is moan and complain and blames everyone else for her problems. I just cannot empathise with her at all. I really don't see the point of wasting any more screen time on her when the likes of Pam and Jessica are starved of screen time.

I like Tara, not as funny though any more. She's always sad now

She just bugs me. Especially in Season 2 where Sookie, Bill and Lafayette (and kinda her mother but in a significantly less badass way) rescue her from Marianne.
They give her back her memories and personality and break the hypnosis she'd been under and what does she do?
Break out to go and rescue her boyfriend with no plan, no help and complete disregard for everyone else. And within about two minutes she's back in exactly the same position. That just bugged me.

The episodes with Franklin had me liking her a little bit more though. Maybe she'll be a bit less reckless from now on, and a little more kick-ass.
