Has anyone tried to book flights on the aer lingus sale announced today.

According to the email I got there is 50% off flights booked the next 3 days to fly between 24th Aug and Sometime in October.

The email gives a list of the airports included in the sale.

However my problem is I cannot find 1 flight out of Dublin to Malaga or returning which is included in the sale at any time during August or September!!!!

Is this all just a big scam?

Also, Anyone have any idea if Ryanair flight prices come down aswel as go up?
Trying to get a return flight to Malaga for the weekend 19th Aug - 23rd Aug and the prices have more than doubled over the last few weeks to over €230

Aer Lingus says that the sale is "up" to 50% off fares. Don't be fooled by the big print!

You can get a flight for as little as 108 return to Malaga in that sale at the end of august.
40 euro tickets are half price, 50 euro tickets half price.
    It does what it claims.
    Half price.

And nearly all dates to fly have it. Only a few dont.

    Whats the problem?

Well, take for example, Saturday, 28th August. Return leg of journey (Malaga to Dublin) fare is €105 with only €15.75 of a discount. My maths tell me that's a long, long way from a 50% discount.

As with most sales be it travel agents/retail shops the promotional material says 'Up to 50% off'. Legally there has to be at least one flight with 50% off, but the rest can be anything up to that number. It's unfortunate that the flight you want doesn't have as much discount as you like, but that's the luck of the draw. You have got some money off, so I can't really see what your issue is here.

It's a complete assumption on your part that I am taking that flight. Fact is I am not. And fact is that "up to 50% off" is what Aer lingus states about their current sale.

I do agree though that the Aer Lingus sale is not near as good as previous years. I was pricing flights to New York earlier in the summer. Got an email with a big fanfare about 50% off flights to New York for my dates, checked out the price and it had gone UP in price since the previous week! I'd say the 50% off are few and far between.

Does that up to 50% sale normally turn up at that time of year?
