PS3 as a wired media centre

I 've been using my Tversity on my PS3 to stream video from my PC to my main tv. It works reasonably ok but it can stutter a bit at times. I have cat5 connections near the PC and the TV and was wondering if I could make a wired connection from the PC to the PS3, and if this would be better quality.

Any advice how i might do this?

    Hi,
A wired connection is much better than wireless for streaming. It's a lot faster and more reliable so go wired if you can.
Also Tversity is okay, but you should really be using PS3 Media Server which is a much better program as it has been designed for use with the PS3.

Thanks for that - Tried PS3 server before and it works pretty well on wireless. Any suggestion how i can set up the wired connection. Tried to disable wireless and connect with an Ethernet cable into the back of the pc but doesn't seem to be working.

I find that sometimes you need to start PS3 Media Server on the laptop first then power on the PS3.

I don't own a PS3 so I'm only guessing here, but if you're connecting the PS3 directly to the PC and you're not getting a link between the two you may need to use a crossover cable to connect them up, either that or plug them both into a switch.

You don't actually say what's going wrong in your post though, is it physical or just not streaming well/at all, or something else?
