is this is as good as the one in birr. ?

It only started last year i think. From what the lads were saying last year it wasnt as good, but it was the first year. Last year you had to use fibre wad for the clays but i dont see that this year.
Maybe one of the lads at it last year will tell us what it was like

It is a lot smaller than Birr but i thought some of the shows in the main arena were better (for the family!!) I saw somewhere in this years blurb on it that its still fibre wads for the clays!! If the weather is good it would be a good day out I am half thinking of going again this year but am definately going to birr!!:D

Actually after reading back up on last years i might just have a BBQ if its fine:D
Some stunt planes going to be at it, maybe its will be bigger this year but the website attractions section dosnt seem to have too much

trying to get a few lads from the club to go to birr, but its like pulling hens teeth

I went both days as was helping out on the Deerhound Society stand (club treasurer for my sins) Found Sun was the better day for dog trials and displays etc.

Not quite as big as Birr but a lot of trade stands and interesting things to see. I was hobbling round on 3 broken toes so was quite glad not too spread out !! .22 gallery got a lot of my euros :D

Did think that €15 was a bit steep in recessionary times though, but being 20mins uo the road and half price tickets for CAI members I'll def be there this year !!

I'll go to Birr this year not the Ballinlough one even though only 30 mins away. Very disappointed last year and annoyed with the dual pricing on english and NI trade stands, no bargains to be had:(

Ill pop along for a look only up the road. Buy all accounts it looks ok going but the site...........

They never heard of haggling there. Made a few good contacts all the same.
No improvement on last year in my opinion. Very overpriced stuff. Best thing was the hog roast roll.

Didnt overly enjoy it €15 was a little steap.. Very little bargains to be had on the trade stands. Nothing really there warrent the 15 squid.....

Top marks to athboy gun club who had a a great little set up....

Went up today, Entrance fee was a bit steep but I guess it wouldnt buy you 3 drinks on a night out either. I guess with all shows once you have been to one you have been to them all but its like buying shooters digest, ya say never again till ya see it next month on the shelf
Displays were small enough but was good to stroll around without being pushed and shoved. Pork sambo as mentioned was good if I got to enjoy it, pup took a shine to it. Was good to bump into a few old faces that I dont get to see too often and meet a few new people that I am sure to meet again at Birr. A nice way to pass a few hours.

A few pics that were taken during the retriever display in the arena.

Went on Sunday with the family, a great day was enjoyed by all.
Prices were a bit steep on the trade and food stands compared to any of the fairs up North or across the water, the general trend appears to be just double or treble the Sterling price to get a Euro price. The stall holders would do much better if they were not trying to fleece us, which I also find to be the case at Birr.
As a long time member of the NARGC I have to say I was disappointed that they did not appear at the Fair again this year. They should be representing their members at every operatunity.
Fair play to you Tikkamark and your fellow members from Athboy Gun Club you had a very good stand.

Hate to dig this topic back up but only remembered to reply there now! Thanks elius its a nice little hmr the thumbhole stock is lovely to hold-we shot the bunnys for the cooking display with it and my hmr which is also a marlin.
The pheasant your talking about is a melinistic pheasant im fairly sure we have a few mixed in with the blackneck poults this year to see how they get on.
