    Hi,

I'm going away for a few months Oz, SE Asia etc and I'm looking for advice on using money. Being away for a while will mean I'm going to be spending thousands, obviously I don't want to carry cash so what should I use?

If I use my ATM card will I be charged on each transaction?

If I put cash onto the Credit Card and it's lost/stolen/scammed will I be at the loss of the extra cast I put on?

    Any advice appreciated, thanks.

Most banks won't cover you for money credited onto your credit card, only money that is debited. (You might be able to buy insurance for this, I'm not sure). You might consider, if you are staying in any country for more than a month, to open up an account and transfer some funds into that and don't use your irish cc at all for that duration.

You will be charged for each transaction so take out a lot at a time and look after it! If your CC is in credit then it ***is*** insured if stolen/lost. I emailed AIB about this before I went travelling and they confirmed it.
