Cows Repeating - Feeding Barley

I though I'd start this as a new thread. The last one on the same subject sidetracked a little.

I just had a chat with my AI guy. Like I said I've had a huge amount of repeats from AI. Normally I have very little. He said, overall there are very few repeats this year over the farms he covers.

He reckons it was all the barley I fed over the winter (for the first time). He saw this years ago on a farm where there was suddenly had a lot of repeats. They tested for all the usual suspects, minerals, disease etc. The feeding of barley was all they could come up with.

Anybody else with a lot of repeats feed barley over the winter?

Fed a lot of meal which was a 3 way mix (barley included) and have a lot of repeats too. My AI man has had a lot of repeats to cover and as I said in last thread, he recons it was the poor weather last year and poor quality grass & silage that they ate which did not have the correct minerals and vitamins in it.
