Dwayne 'The Rock' Johnson swaps fairy wings for a nice big gun in this action movie about an ex-con seeking revenge over his brother's death. Looks like pretty standard action fare, but some of his fan's may appreciate it

I think the Rock is good when given the right material to work with. Case in point----> Welcome to the Jungle/The Rundown

Tooth Fairy scares the life out of me, can't watch it!

That looks awful. His career is really in trouble imo, I think he should just stick to comedic supporting roles (The Other Guys/Get Smart) - to go from the bloody Tooth Fairy to this nonsense (which looks pure straight-to-DVD) in a few months is the sign of a terrible agent/decision making skills

This looks like it could be Walking Tall 2 :)

Which I'm not ashamed to say is one of my favourite recent popcorn action flicks in the same vein as Shooter, Crank or Taken - just great entertainment.

I've watched it a good few times now and in fairness it's an excellent trailer, looking forward to this :)

Watched this last night, it's pretty good.
I expected it to be a 'fast and furious' style ****e-fest.
It's actually a grim revenge thriller with a good cast and a (slightly)better than average story.

i prefered the 2X4, which while looking harmless became a deadly weapon when put into his hands:D,

Liked Welcome to the Jungle/The Rundown quite well (esp Christopher Walken contributing to global warming by chewing the Brazilian rainforest so aggressively) but when I was really impressed by Dwayne was his his part in the Get Shorty sequel, Be Cool. So against type but so well performed, thoroughly enjoyed it.

Haha, I thought that was a photoshop joke until I spotted Hercules on the cover. Oh dear, it didn't end there either :D

I like that cover. Look at the expression on his face. "Yeah I'm holding a shotgun in one hand. No biggie."

Pretty decentfulms tbh. Will never win any awards but the action is solid, direction, acting and story are good and they're never less than watchable.

Not just any hand either. His left hand no less!
(I am not looking up whether he's left handed)

Might give the sequels a go so. I really enjoyed Walking Tall and Faster was a similarly satisfying variation on the theme, albeit with a different tone. Both were very nicely composed and shot too. Those roles suit Johnson down to the ground. There were a couple of scenes from the trailer that were nowhere to be seen in the film if I remember correctly, which was odd, but I'll have to watch it again to be sure. Oz's Adebisi showing up is always welcome too.

That song from the closing credits and the trailer is The Heavy's Short Change Hero if anyone was wondering. Liked that one.

Seen this last night and thought it was pretty decent.

Not going to win any awards or anything, but for that genre - it was good.

It lulls somewhat in places but does pick back up and finishes quite well.
Didn't buy the twist to be honest.

Not as forgettable as most of these movies seem to be, but then no Death Wish either.

Christ I actually went out and bought that a few years ago... it's pretty terrible.

Watched this recently and had trouble trying to piece together what they wanted to do with it.

It reeked of Smokin' Aces vibes in a few places
(just when they're converging on him....I think it's at the Hospital scene. 'They' being the hit-man and the police).

Also, to me, it seemed like there were three characters in this movie that were written in from the start and about a page of script to work on and flesh out. I say this because that's how it felt, very padded. Dwayne does a great job at not being too cheesy in this (who knew that the muscles on that face could do emotion!).

But ultimately I ended up spending most of the movie urging it to get back on track and stop deviating that 'Yeah we know such and such is messed up', 'Yeah we're fully aware that this character has a shady past.'. 'Oh, another ten minutes of this? Really?'. Ugh.

    The
    hit-man
ruined the tone of this movie. He seemed like a whiny six year old with Mammy issues. We didn't need to know his back story at all!

    I'd give it 4/10.

I thought it was a bit sh*t. It's not terrible, but don't go out of your way to see it. As above, I thought the
    hitman
character was annoying and didn't make a lot of sense in it. But then again, not many of the characters did.

It kind of reminded me a little of Vanishing Point and that style of 70's action movies.
