    hello,

I joined a rugby team (under 19s) they have just started training 1hr on field and 1hr in the gym twice a week.

My problem is that i find it very hard to keep up with everybody at training.
i not a really lazy person i walk most places and was using the gym at school
but these weren't the weights on bars they were the machines i haven't been to the gym since the end of may due to the close of the school

first off i can only lift about half the weight these guys can lift
and i feel a bit ashamed about it. which i know i shouldn't since i just starting.

also after training i am extremely tired/weak and the next morning i have severe muscle pains in my legs and shoulders and arms and then the next day i have more training.

what i want to know is how they do it is it just that it take time or are they doing something i'm not.

anything else you need to know to help i would be happy to provide

    brian

The pains the following days, assuming they're DOMS and not injuries, can be alleviated by walking, stretching or what a lot of people find, eating and drinking. Stay well hydrated and eat plenty, you can check the fitness forum for tips, the stickies have loads of info. At your age you need to eat a lot.

exactly what amacachi says. I find swimming and shed tons of protein is best. (peanut butter. bananas. yum!) Can't stress eating enough. It almost becomes a chore.

there are all kinds of "systems" on the web for stopping it, but it should only happen after a step up in intensity (starting out training new season, hard match, new sport (cycling if you're runner vise versa etc.) so can catch you out, but will pass after a few weeks.

it is startling the different levels of fitness you see when you start out, but don't worry its only time / dedication. main thing is not to try and do it all at once. you'll get injured. (i.e. don't try to 'catch up' over a week)
