yea,its not just audacity, the previous sound card i had was just 1 i/o,and i could play the decks and have the sound from the pc come through the amp simultaneously, this has 2 i/o and while whats playing from the mixer is registering in it(lights flashing) im not getting any sound from it

im just a tad confused but you have gone into audacity settings and selected the soundcard.
have you selected your master out in audacity to the soundcard also

i dont know what you mean by coming throught the amp simultaniously

you want the sound to go from your mixer to audacity and then have it come back out of audacity to your amp is that correct?

at the moment all i can do is either have the mixer or pc going into amp on the other sound card i didnt have to plug one out to use the other, when i select the sound card in audacity im getting an error when i go to record"error when opening sound device, check input device settings and project sample rate"

if its telling you to change the buffersettings do that in the options.it could just be that your computer is struggling to do the work because the settings are too high

why dont you just get a splitter and have the decks go to the am and the soundcard instead of having the signal go to the lappy and then back to the amp.

does your mixer have a monitor out on it

no monitor its just a basic 3 channel mixer,i remember having trouble with the other sound card and eventually got it going after a lot of messing about,i know its going to be something simple, cables are my nemesis, the sound card itself works perfect with ableton so dont think there is any issues there,if ive no luck ill look into getting a splitter, cheers for your time man.

why not try record into ableton?

i normally just use mp3`s in ableton with the apc40,not a big fan of ableton for djing,i find the sound quality is a bit dodgy, havnt tried recording into it though
