Tan Explosion!

Hi all, just wondering if anyone else has tried that new TanOrganic product that's out?

I'm not a big fan of tan myself, and if I do need a bit of browning up I just use Sally Hansen but this weekend I decided to go crazy and try this new product which had gotten a glowing review (boom boom) from the girls on the Ray D'Arcy show.

There is precious little on the bottle about how you should store it (apparently there was supposed to be a little paper swing tag on the neck but it had fallen off by the time I bought my bottle). All it said was to take care when removing the cork.

I took the cork off when I got home and there was a slight "pop" and a few flecks splashed out, but nothing remarkable. Re-corked, left it in my en-suite, went downstairs to my computer then heard a massive BANG! Ran upstairs, found that thecork had flown right off, so just placed it gently back on and left it at that. Came back a few hours and was ready to apply it. NOticed it had settled a bit in the bottle so stuck the cork back in and inverted the bottle then BAM, expolsion. Tan all over me, the walls, the ceiling, wall tiles, toilet. Looked like a particularly hideous case of something unmentionable. Did a quick clean-up, applied it, it turned out well but not the be-all and end-all I was hoping for.

No much smell off it, and doesn't look too orange but still can't get over the explosion part of it, and the fact that I couldn't re-seal it meant I had to leave it behind in my parents house, so if I want to use it when I'm back in Limerick I'll have to shell out another 23 beans. Also my friend just told me that the same thing happened to her cousin with it, and the cork actually made a mark on her ceiling! I had to hastily repaint my bathroom cieling before my Dad saw it, as he only painted it a few weeks ago. Seems like alot of effort for a fookin' tan.

Anyone else tried it, how have you found it?

The bottle didn't blow, the cap just shot off, kinda like a champagne cork. It's all organic and non toxic apparently so if it did get in my eye I hope it would be less damaging than another one might be.

    Hahahahahahaha!
Sorry but that is SO funny! :D:D:D
I'm not a big fan of fake tan but if I'm going to a wedding or something I'll use L'oreal Sublime spray. It's great and doesn't streak.
Have never tried your one and definitely won't after that story - Brillient!

Yes, Ive tried this and have had the very same problem at one stage i came in to my room to discover the bottle had no cork, I looked around but didn't find it until 2 days later almost at the other side of the room. It happened 3 or 4 times before I discovered the trick is to put the lid on halfway instead of shut tight, this works fine for sitting on a shelf in my room but you definitely couldn't pack this bottle for a weekend away.

As for the tan itself, its not the best and not the worst. Im still on that mission to find the perfect self-tan ie. natural golden look, no orange tones, non streaky and most importantly pleasant smelling.

This tan I had gone for after hearing it had no smell, it definitely has and I think the closest thing i can equate it to is the garden herb, thyme but still alot more pleasant than some of the typical tan chemicals. I found it left my skin feeling very soft and smooth but it took about half an hour for the tacky after application feeling to go away and i found it didn't develop well in areas such as the arm crease and underarm. I used the caramel one and it was pretty much gone after the first shower.

I recently tried a Wow Brown(also new and Irish) spray tan and was very impressed with the result and the nice smell that fades after a few hours, so Ive now bought they're DIY version and this also has a pleasant smell. Unfortunately i went for the light to medium which i found needs 2 coats to get a decent colour for my pale skin so going to try the medium to dark next time round but definately recommend it.

My top 5 tans would be

    1. Bronze express(Instant)
    2. Wow Brown(Spray)
    3. Wow Brown(Developer)
    4. St. Tropez(Developer)
    4. Sally Hansen (No.1 for Legs of course)

Im also interested in trying Xen Tan, anyone else tried this?
