I have a 10 yr old 2litre Opel Omega with 108k on clock. I was accelerating joining on a motorway last week doing 80- 85mph when engine management light came on and car spluttered lost a bit of power but kept going . I stopped and restarted engine and engine management light went out and car runnng fine again.

Any idea what would cause such an event. I assume the loss of power was the engine management switching to limp mode to protect the engine. I though the noise the engine made sounded like fuel starvation.. wold a bit of dirt in the injectors cause this ?

Did it or has it since lost power a lot ? if its a turbo maybe one of the vacuum pipes could be torn, or you may need to change your spark plugs or leads, just a few possibities

Not a turbo and no real noticable lost of power since. Spark plugs were recently changed to bosh original 4 pin. It has been a tiny bit sluggish recently ..it might be a gummed up throttle assembly which I heard opels were famous for. I getting it checked out next week anyway. Ecco Tec 2L engine.
