UPC phone / PSTN / SMS server

    Hello

Moving to a new house, thinking of getting UPC broadband and phone service.

I was wondering whether the UPC phone service can interact with normal hardware that expects a PSTN line - i.e., standard phone handsets and alarm diallers (*).

Also, does UPC's phone system have a SMS server? (to get alarm to text me).

    Thanks,
    Chanquete

(*) I understand a power cut/loss would cut the phone service. But since I already have a PSTN dialler in the alarm, I'm trying to see how much use I can make of it with UPC, before considering a GSM dialler or a UPS system.

I don't think anyone in Ireland other than eircom / other network using eircom's exchange equipment support SMS over landlines.
