Speed Checks at Night (Compliment)

As a bogger who lives in an area where the philosophy is its ok to speed when its dark, wet or windy as the guards wont be checking I was pleasantly surprised to find two traffic units doing speed checks, in the rain, and in the dark, on a main road in North Dublin tonight.

Not only were they doing it during light traffic but they were both individually checking despite being only a short distance apart, so anybody who decided to slyly speed up after the first would still be caught.

While you couldnt see them until long after they could see you, everybody passing would have seen them so it served well as a high profile check.

A close friend when he started driving was told by his father to "not worry about speeding on the motorway when its wet", and indeed I never expect to find a Garda Checkpoint of any sort in the rain, as its not exactly healthy for anybody to be standing out in the wet and cold for minimal tangible benefit.

I'd be delighted if some of the AGS Traffic members would pass on the a thank you to the relevant people as their work tonight did serve to increase public safety and awareness.
