Question. Cracked tooth but no pain

I just have a quick question. My back teeth , upper+lower, really need some work done.I was told a few years about ago about it+ again more recently, last year probably. I was told that they almost all need fillings, even though they've always felt fine+ I have no pain, the dentist said that they're basically not doing so great, which is annoying in itself as I've always taken care of my teeth so it makes no sense to me how they started rotting out of my head. Now me being a student means that at €80 a tooth, that just wasnt gonna happen.

My probem now is that one of my upper teeth at the back seems to have a crack going right through the middle of it. I can actually feel it+ the space in the tooth with my tongue, but again no pain whatsoever. Anybody have any idea what's going on?Surely if it needed to be pulled it'd hurt. I don't wanna have to have it pulled,I really don't wanna end up losing a tooth but as well I don't have €80 just lying around. I know they have to be seen to but until I can afford it I have to go on a "if it hurts I'll deal with it " basis.

Tooth decay eats away the inside of the tooth undermining the outside untill eventually the tooth fractures as its sitting on mush. Decay has to be removed by a dentist and the holw filled to stop it getting worse.

My advice is to get the fillings done now while they are smaller, they will only get bigger ( and more expensive to fill) as time goes on. Unfortunatly with teeth a little money spent now prevents a lot of mone in a few years. Dont wait untill the teeth hurt as this is a sign that the decay is very extensive indeed.

You could try the dublin dental hospital but the waiting list are long.

A little advice from someone who has had alot of expensive dental work recently. Don't wait until you are in pain with your teeth to get them seen to, it will cost you alot more money. If you leave this tooth it could get infected and will probably then need a root canal treatment or extraction. Please get the money from someone and get it seen to. It woudl be alot cheaper in the long run and also, might hopefully save your tooth. You don't want to get teeth extracted because it causes all sorts of problems. I know, I've been there and am still going through with it. Try asking your Dentist if he/she will accept a payment plan, most do. Good luck and I hope it all works out for you.:D

I know! I'm gonna try+get them done bit by bit, tooth by tooth. I just wish it wasn't so damn expensive!

Just got back from the dentist. Cracked tooth is now filled+ it turns out I only need 2 more fillings. Got xrays+filling done today for €80. Feels better to have it done now.Got another appointment for September (post pay day) for another filling. Going to dentist has never worried/scareed me but I have to say this was pretty much painless.Going to the dentist these days really isnt a big deal at all.

great news and i think you did well to get it all sorted now before too many problems appear. Just because there is no pain doesnt mean there is no problem
