Ok heres the thing, im fairly decent with computers, do a bit of web and graphic design and have a small bit of coding knowledge but im really really bad at keeping on top of current trends and specs etc.

So im putting it to you boardsies to help me with my quandary. Im using a macbook at the moment because for essays, music, video etc its perfectly fine. Im upgrading soon and just figured i'd get one of the new cheaper macbook pro's but for that kind of money could i be doing a lot better? At the end of the day i dont have a lot of money to spend and i dont really want to screw myself over just to keep OS X.

So what do you all think, is there a much better option that im unaware of?

Any OS is fine, im grand with them all.
