Fender Deluxe Player Strat - opinions

Looking at getting a new guitar, currently been using a cheaper Strat (not sure which model) which isn't mine, so I want to both upgrade and actually own my own. Just from looking online, not playing, I've kind of picked out the Deluxe Player, the noiseless pickups look great for bigger gigs, and it sounds like it should have the kind of tone I want, which is a warm tone, I usually use the bridge pickup or between the bridge and centre, for playing funk and skaa etc.

Anyone have an opinion on this guitar, or advise different model for the same price?

Unless you're willing to do it for €700 then it's out of my price range!

I considered buying one, going to be getting a american standard soon enough. I did not like the deluxe at all, i'm sure they are probably great guitars but not for me. I suggest you try out both standard and deluxe and any other fenders around the same price.

Well the Deluxe Player Strat's €700 on Thomann, so that's my price range, 600-800 kind of thing.

This was my old one here, though time again I would buy her in the Blue

The tuners on this were the best I ever came across. I swear it NEVER went out of tune

Oh sorry, your talking about a mexi strat then and I haven't played one of them but I can only presume the same as for the american line. I do think if you could stretch budget, get a american standard cause they are all round better then mexi. It is possible to get one for 1,000 or less if you know where to find the deals

Would like to get an American, but they're a good bit pricier, for what a lot of people say is not much of a difference. Are there any nice Japanese strats around that price range? The Japanese ones seem like a good compromise.

I find the Mex Strats play very nicely and sound great so if you're satisfied with that happy days. No need to splash out an extra 500 so it says "Made in U.S.A." at the top! The American's do sound nicer but if it's your first strat the difference probably isn't worth the price. The only think I will say about the American Deluxe Vs. the Mexican Players Deluxe is that the American has the S1 switch. Opens up the variety in tone a lot - gives you 10 pickup selections instead of the usual 5. Although at the same time I have heard of people not liking the switch which kinda baffles me... What's wrong with more choice?

Hey, sorry I only saw your post now.

I'd be willing to do it for €800 if that's any good to you?

Hey op consider a trip to Jimis guitars or guitarfix in dublin before purchase, you may find a good secondhand you like, not affiliated with either just think sometimes secondhand you get better value!

Adverts.ie also good, got me a beaut on there for 400!!

i have a mex strat that's been ugraded to the quality of an american strat, with the noiseless pickups, tuners, pots, and a hardtail bridge. anyone who's ever played it couldn't tell the difference between it and an american standard!
