I really want to start a career in property (mainly valuation), I would like to know where the best place(s) would be to study/ train or even get an internship (if possible) in Dublin.

    Any ideas???

Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated:)

    hi op,
i am also hoping to do a property related course always been interested in the estate agents side of things so decide to take the plunge and persue a career in property to spite the downturn, hope to start in september, points depending! :o but in relation to places who do these courses, i've applied to places like DIT (who have 2 property degree courses :D ) i have also applied to Ballsbridge college (for a plc course) and GMIT and LIT (which are both degree courses) but i think there may be another few around dublin aswell... like a auctioneers private college or something  but as far as i know its fee paying... :pac: anywhoo hope this info helps you and one of these courses will be suitable :D G. luck!!!

Auctioneering, Valuation and Estate Agency is a Level 7 degree in D.I.T. Once you've done the 3 years you can advance to the level 8 in Property Studies which is also in D.I.T.

Just a word of warning, the climate at the moment isn't ideal to make a career in estate agency. I wanted to be an estate agent like yourself and did the Auctioneering course. I found it tough and the subjects very congested and left after two weeks. Up to yourself of course

borntorun88, just in interest, did you leave because of the lack of job prospects after college or was the course just to tough to handle?? and do you think it would be wise to do a plc couse in auctioneering before jumping straight into the degree course, yano just to test the water before really committing to it for 3 or 4 years??.. cheers :)

I found certain areas of the course like accounting and building surveying a bit hard to understand as well as the knowledge that when I entered the course in 2008 the property market wasn't doing so well so really it was a combination of both.

I know that Ballsbridge College do a pre-university auctioneering course of some kind, here's the link http://www.ballsbridgecollege.com/auc.html as well as a property one http://www.ballsbridgecollege.com/pm.html
