I think Brittas bay is roughly equidistant between Wicklow and Arklow railway stations. Would be a good 4 hours plus hike then from either station - and along a busy road too (4 hours is a very rough estimate). Have no info about buses unfortunately.

the Wexford buses (002 etc) stop at jack Whites pub don't they? probably 45 min walk down from there.

I seem to remember from doing it myself fadó fadó that it's less than 30 mins walk from Jack Whites (about 1.5 miles) to the southern of the two main access points to the beach itself, so easily doable with camping gear. If you are going camping OP, please take your rubbish to the bins at the car park, and take your tent/sleeping bag/clothes home with you. Not suggesting that you're the type, but it's almost unbelievable what gets dumped on the beach and in the dunes in July and August.
