    There's an Arts buddy scheme?

    They're bringing it in this year. It was one of the things in James Williamsons campaign.

    It's like the mentoring thing they have in most of the other area's first year's get paired[or grouped] up with someone a bit older than them [or a lot in kevs case :pac:] to have someone to talk to/show them around in the early stages of college

    /knowing the campaign

    But what if a mature student had to get shown around by a little dweeb like you, I bet he would strangle you..

    Another fucking retarded idea put into practice that will no doubt fail spectacularly (although it will be trumpted as a success).:pac:

    If it was done properly it might be useful to a few people. Some first years can be in need of somebody to give them a helping hand. But I can see a lot of foxy first years getting paired with some poor sad sack that will end up their lapdog :D

    No such thing, they're just post-leaving cert scum as far as I'm concerned. I think R. Lee Ermey sums up my feelings of freshers and undergrads in general.:pac:

    Can you imagine Brady doing this?;)

    I was a mentor twice. first time was great, I had a group of 8 and we got along really well. The second time was terrible as I had a group of 26 and the only way to organise them was to arrange them like a class. I would recommend against doing it. There was nothing good about it.

    Lol!:D

    The problem with our group is that everyone's laziness was contagious. Those were the days, Windsor Rd. was the ground zero for it all!:pac:

    I went with someone to the secret lakes once, had I known it was for those purposes I wouldn't have contemplating going at all. Luckily one of the paths were blocked by construction. :rolleyes:

    Mwahaha! But now I have no idea about where I'm to go on Friday, 9am to 4pm, but the email never said where. Plus, do I still have to go to the Orientation Guide training?

    Anyone have any extra details on this?

    This is the email I got;
    [FONT='PrimaSans BT,Verdana,sans-serif']Hi All,

    I can now confirm that Peer Mentor training will take place on Friday 3rd September 2010 at 9am sharp (Registration) in the Veterinary Building Room 109. Please note that tea/coffee breaks and lunch are provided. The training will finish at 4pm and there will then be some Orientation training for approximately an hour afterwards.

    I look forward to seeing you all on Friday and thank you for volunteering to be a Peer Mentor.

    Regards

    Naoimh

    You should have a message about it in your ucd connect inbox. It might be different for those who are not in science.

    yes but i was an orientation guide last year so i know the grounds. also going in early on monday to find out stuff. what time do we head in every day?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,644 ✭✭✭kev_s88

    didnt the e-mail just say we had to spend like 2 or 3 days and a couple of hours a day? i presume theres a given time that we have to start before but that we can leave when we want. having to sign in and out is good so they cant screw us out :D lol

    Check your email. There's a massive list assigning each group of students to each peer mentor.

    As for meeting them, 'tis also addressed in the email :P

    Got 16 padawans. I was only in a group of 9 or 10 last year.

    I've got an odd eleven. The question though, is how many will show up through the wet and wild weather?
