They are instore at the mo, but i never checked until when sorry. Some of the stuff was already sold out, hadn't many pringles, magnums or 6 pack cans left and the toilet rolls were all gone.

I've made a big effort to shop in lidl/aldi ,but the fruit/veg seems to go off very quickly.
Stuff from superquinn/m&s & tesco last much longer.

What is the junk? Everything there is a brand name. One thing about superquinn, they are generally a little dearer, but they sell good stuff.

Where's the junk? Brand name or not, this is junk food ....
    • High fat and salt potato chips, such as Pringles
    • Sugary fizzy soft drinks, like Pepsi/Club/7Up
    • High fat and sugar confectionery, like Magnum and Aero
    • All mayonnaise, even the light version, contain 30-80% fat.
    • The fruit shoot drinks, while healthier than fizzy drinks, also contain additives.
Its easy for supermarkets to offer cheap prices on junk food. They are high profit items, for both the manufacturer, and the retailer.

You cant get a half leg of New Zealand lamb in Lidl for around 6 quid a kilo. A full one of about 2-2.5kg is 12-14 quid. Thats not an offer, just the regular price in Lidl.

Shows you how much we are being ripped off on Irish lamb when Lidl can fly the NZ version half way around the globe, sell it for 50% of the Irish price and still turn a profit:eek:

that's because there's more sheep than people in NZ, supply is so vast that it's that cheap that it can be sent half way round the world and still be cheaper than what irish farmers need to sell at to make a living, the supermarkets arent ripping anyone off, if you were to look at even SQ prices for lamb over the year the price for NZ lamb would probably be about 30% cheaper than that of irish lamb

I dont mind paying a couple of euro extra for Irish lamb. FAR superier IMO. Irish lamb is much better than the NZ lamb.

Last time I got a leg of lamb in my butchers it was €20 ,I think it weighed nearly 3kilos and it wasn't green.
