Guys have had sore knees for a week or so on and off. Need to get it checked out but where should I go? Doctor / Physio/ Physical Therapist? Cant afford to have to visit all 3!! Also looking for recommendations in D9, D3 IFSC area or nearby?
    Thanks in advance!!

I went to www.sportsmedireland.ie. Highly recommend them.

They are based in the city center. The physio that treated my knee injury was Garrett he is a runner himself and knows his stuff.

    Hi

I recommend a physiotherapist as they are better qualified than a GP to assess you musculoskeletally. They will also take into account that you are a runner and will do a full bio-mechanical assessment to identify the trigger (which may not actually be in your knee). In the interim use regular anti-inflammatory medication from the local chemist to prevent any worsening of the situation and altered gait aggravating the trigger.

I've been going there over the last couple of weeks. Very good and I've seen a couple of the experienced runners on here recommend them too. Hope it clears up soon, good luck.

I'd vote for seeing a physio as well rather than a GP and have used SportsMedIreland a couple of times myself for different injuries.

physio's normally charge between €40-70 per hour long session depending ... average seems to be about €50.

Also not all physio's are the same so if not going to the Sports place recommended by other board members I suggest you ask the physio about their background in treating sports injuries, have they done any extra courses in sports injuries etc before committing to treatment. And if after a few sessions you are not seeing any progress ask them; a decent physio should be happy to explain why they are doing the particular treatment used on you (ultrasound, manipulation, myofascial therapy) and be able to describe what you should experience as healing progresses.
