anyone have any advice for moving a 6tonne digger short distances. I have the digger for doing bits on the farm but the land is in three different sections a good distance apart. Im not in favour of buying a low loader as the amount of use I would get out of it would be very little and would just be another implement taking up space. Any advice would help:confused:

you could buy a trailer like this (you would get more use out of it if you made bales )http://www.donedeal.ie/for-sale/machinery/1438787

would that handle a six tonne hitachi? I can get my hands on one of them handy enough but I will have to do a bit of repair on it. I thought it would be too light for a six tonne. Hope Im wrong.

I have done this with my last machine (hire a man to bring it to a piece of land, do the work and then hire him to bring it back again a week or so later) However it was vandalised to the point of no repair the last time and therefore i would have to bring my machine home every evening.

it should hold a 6 tonne fairly easy this red rock version has more chance of braking (due to the split for the hydrolics ) and it's rated at 8tonne

ideally this is what you would need http://www.redrock-engineering.com/multi_application_dump_trailers.aspx or http://www.nc-engineering.com/brochures/DumpTrailer260905.pdf
however, would say they are expensive new ad rare second hand

I have a lad near me that moves his 6ton digger on a 13x7 tipper trailer .
nugent ,woods, and a few more that i cant think of do them trailers to a lower spec and cost of that redrock multi pourpose trailer .

If you could get local engerring place that is quiet now theyd do a good deal on building something .

keep an eye on the journal, donedeal etc, a mate of mine sold a nice low loader trailer last year might have been a little big for you needs but it was sound and made small money,
he had to upgrade to a tri axle, was over weight for the 2 axles, and got pulled by the boys in blue.

oh bought one last week for 6500 its 45 ft with ramps capable of taking 8 tonne, he sold his old one as a bale trailer as the last time he had a 10 tonne machine on it the cross members bent:rolleyes: on the m50

The lad that does our digging has a 10 ton hitichi but has got a 25 ton tri axel which has a bed length of 32 ft . He got this size so that he could draw bales .different diggers, basicaly anything can be brought on it .Its a fair size and weight of a trailer . But has so many uses ,for a 6 ton digger you should get a 10-12 ton twin axel well built lowloader lightweight but strong . More uses than a 6 ton single axel .
