I know this is a totally random question but I though someone might be able to help me. Bought my dad a sim free 3gs from the apple store for his birthday and want to activate it for him. I don't have his sim (he's away) and I want to have it all synced for when he's home, can I use my o2 SIM to activate his new phone?

should be no bother, just sync again with his sim and it will switch carrier bundles.

I have a sim free iPhone 4, before that a sim free 3GS! The whole idea of sim free is you can use any sim whenever you want! If your using a sim from an official iPhone carrier ie. O2 voda and now 3, it'll update your carrier settings when you sync to iTunes !
