paypal - usual interview procedure to give a tour??

    Hi everyone,
looking for some help. I had a job interview at paypal last week. Prior to the interview I had 3 phone interviews - 1 with HR and 2 more with different supervisors. I also had 2 language tests (its a bi-lingual role). all that went well, and HR said I got very positive feedback so was invited for an interview on Friday.

I did another interview with HR and an assessment in both languages. The assessments were first then the final interview. After the interview I was given a tour of the paypal complex - about 20 mins in all. I was shown everywhere, the canteen, gym, loads of departments, the lot really.

Basically, I'm wondering if the tour is the usual for paypal - does everyone get a tour regardless of how well the interview went? My sis seems to think its a good sign, as why would they waste 20 mins for nothing? also it would be a bit cruel (as in a bullseye moment as 'look at what you could'a won??! lol)

I think maybe they just do it as standard??

HR woman said that everything went well and as soon as they heard from the language school about my assessment they would be in touch.

Don't wanna get my hopes up, but can't help it! really want this job.

Is the tour something everyone has had??

    thanks guys!

I think it is quite common to give tours after an interview. I know in my place the do it all interviewees. It gives them an oppurtunity to informally continue the interview and also lets the applicant see the building and help them make a more informed decision as to whether they fancy working there :)

Probably a stupid question, but what are they testing you on during the tour?

No such thing as stupid questions :) It's not testing, more a continuation of the interview but in a less formal situation. When people don't feel under so much pressure they're more natural and responses will be more genuine.

Just wanted to add about touring an office during/after an interview. An interview is thought of, nowadays, as the applicant trying to get the job when it actually works both ways. The company are trying to make themselves as appealing as possible for you to think of them as your first choice and that is why they like showing off how good the setup is.
