Contrast ratio is terible at 1300:1 (Average Samsung LCD is 70'000:1)
Its mpeg2 so fave goodbye to Irish DTT.

On the plus its got all the connection you would need.
USB is probably for firmware updates only

While the contrast ratio isn't the best, at least the actual contrast ratio, as opposed to the dynamic contrast ratio you quoted for the Samsung LCD, is stated. There is a big difference between the actual contrast ratio a TV can produce and the dynamic contrast ratio quoted by the manufacturer.

Quite terribile tbh, and the price is bad too. You could pick up a much nicer 32" for the same price.

complete false economy. For example - see samsung here in Powercity (and could be cheaper elsewhere) for €420 - €60 more for a Samsung with Irish DTT capability and usb movie playback

That one isn't 1080p though. Agreed, it probably still a better TV.

Lidl should not be selling MPEG2 as being suitable for DTT.

Didn't cop that. The Full HD Samsung is an extra €20.

Aye, you're right. Quite a good price for the Samsung, though I guess this is taking the thread off topic - sorry mods.
