Am going to replace gas boiler as existing one keeps knocking out. Have grant approval to replace boiler and install heating controls. Any advice on estimated cost and recommendations on what boiler we should get. Also can anyone recommend a contractor in Cork?
    Thanks

We have installed a good few glow worm boilers recently as part of the grant , and have had no problem with them very reliable in my experience so far.

Ariston have a brilliant boiler called the CLAS. I have worked on a good few and I am very impressed with them.

We are in the same boat - want to replace our existing gas boiler (avail of the grant) - no idea where to start - seems like 000's of registered installers.

Can Anyone recommend someone to install in south Dublin, a type of boiler and an approx cost?

I bought an Ideal ICOS condensor 2 years ago from Heat Merchants. It cost me €1,100 for the boiler. I was getting an extension done at the time - the contractor's plumber fitted it and the fitting cost was included in the price of the extension.

Go for a Viessmann Vitodens boiler or an Ariston CLAS boiler. Both have 5 year warranty's and are very reliable and will last the test of time. I would charge anything from €2500 up to €3500 and even €4000 in some cases. It depends on pipe modifications, gas pipe size and if it conforms to current regulations, if there is any electrical cross bonding which also has to be done to bring it into the 21st century if it's not already done, if the cylinder is being replaced. SEAI apart from looking for 2 separate zones will need all this done if it is not already.
