Provider for free VoiP-In number?

    Hi,

I'm trying to find a provider for an Irish Voip In number. I know freespeech used to offer it, but they discontinued that service for the 076 numbers and only offer an "extension" now.

I use sipgate.co.uk and internetcalls.com for my UK numbers and sipgate.de for my German number, but for the life of me I can't find anything like it for an Irish number.

Does anybody know any service like it?

    Thanks

    Heather

    Check out Blueface.ie

I have a PAYG account with them which has a 076 number ....... €5 deposit with no expiry date that I am aware of, so never gets used unless you make outgoing calls.
It also has a SIP URI if that is required.

    Thanks, Johnboy.

And this 076 number can be dialled from any phone without using, as freespeech does, a Dublin number first?

If so, I will definitely get an account with them :D

076 can be called from any phone.

    I have a Cork i.e. 021 no with freespeech.ie

What do you mean when you say you have to call a Dublin no first?

If you want a geographic number instead of the 076, then there is a calling plan for (I think) about €10 per month which includes the number.

    Quote from back then:

IMPORTANT Announcement - 076 (VoIP) number termination will no longer be supported from Sep 30th 2008

This means it will no longer be possible to call the 076 number you have on your VoIP phone from regular land lines or mobile phones.
This announcement is applicable to all freespeech users.

Now you have to dial this:

    Special numbers
space.gif (01)-4407400 - Common access dial in number (let's you call a freespeech 'extension' from landline or mobile)

I don't want to sign up for any calling plan or pay monthly fees. I only want to use it for incoming calls. And preferrably without asking my friends to dial this "special" Dublin number first.

Seems there isn't any other service than Blueface. Think I'll give that a try anyway.

I don't know of any service that would give you a 'free' Irish number for in-coming calls. I have a 01 number with Voiptalk.org, which costs about 6 pounds a month; they offer numbers in 16 other Irish area codes. I am sure there are other companies offering numbers at similar or lower prices.

See first two replies in this thread ...... Blueface do. Which answered the original question.

I also had been with Freespeech until they changed their terms on the incoming calls.

    A bit pricey, I pay 0 euros / month for a blueface number :)

But you pay a monthly contract fee right? Like ten euros for a Freedom package?

yes i was looking for an in number too...finally settled for skype, its a bit pricey unless your have a subscription tho...about €55 a year..but if you hold a subscription..eg...landline & mobile calls for less than €10 euro its about €28 a a year for a "local" number.. but there are restricted to Limerick, Cork, Galway and Dub of course...

was temped to port with blueface but their calls to mobiles are pricey...so six of one half a dozen of the other..

just wanted something with as little hassle as possible...

found this also if you just want a number without a subscription:

    http://www.mydivert.com/buy_telephone_numbers/23_Ireland_numbers.html

also with blueface I think all you need is to keep a subscription for max 6 months to get an in number...don't quote me on that...

076 numbers are assigned to voip lines (much line 08x for mobiles) by comreg or whoever. As pointed out in the second or third post, blueface.ie provide free 076 numbers, which are directly accessible from any landline or mobile. You can also purchase or rent geographic numbers (01 etc.).

You can sign up for a free account, and add pre-paid credit etc.

I'm aware that this is only my second or third post on boards.ie, so I'll just point out that I am no affiliated with blueface.ie or any other VOIP provider. I am, however, a customer of theirs and have a couple of geo. numbers (one for a small business and one for my home-phone with them) and cannot fault the service.

    Cheers
    Mark

As mentioned if you get a PAYG a/c with Blueface they give a free 076 number, works fine as a inbound number for people to call.
