I have just opened a trading account with TD Waterhouse and was getting on to putting some funds in it. Initially I will probably just get in on a few Irish and Uk listed shares but was wondering from peoples experiences what sort of value the above offer when it comes to currency exchange for buying foreign shares? Should I be bothered with adding foreign currencies to the account myself or just accept the rates they offer which I think they apply a spread of up to +/- 1.75%
I am based abroad at the moment and that's the main reason I went with them just for the convenience and they seem pretty competitive with their charges overall.
    Any thoughts or better ideas?
    Thanks

I'd be interested in hearing peoples views here too...

I use aib online through Goodbodys the odd time for buying UK based shares and find it a bit annoying that they don't offer to tell you their current exchange rate until you go and put in a buy order
