Does anyone know if you can buy the Hep A and Typhoid combined injection from the chemist? My aunt is a nurse and will administer the vaccine. My GP is charging me 60euro to administer it. I've rang around lots of GPs and they all charge the doctors fee + the vaccine cost.
I've had the jab before but I didn't get the booster so now have to repeat the vaccine.
    Thanks is advance

Technically you can but on prescription.
I got it last year from the chemist and went back to the practice nurse on the same day for the injection.

My shoulder hurt like hell for a while afterwards by the way so be prepared for that.

    Thanks for reply black briar.
I've had the injection before but didn't get a booster so now I have to get it again. My GP is charging €60 to 'administer' the injection which takes all of 2 minutes. I was trying to look for alternatives to make the process cheaper.

I was in the same situation with regards to missing the booster.

I originally got the double vaccine in 2005 and it lasts for 1 and 3 years respectively.

I went in to get it again a month or two ago before I went to Vietnam and the doctor said that recent research has shown that the vaccine lasts for longer in the system than previously thought... So i think i'm covered for 30 years or something like that.

With regards to buying it yourself... didn't try that. I just went to the Tropical Medical Bureau on Grafton St. I think it was €140 for the consultation plus the vaccine. Consultation was €60 if i remember correctly..
