I wonder when preorders will go up on Apple's IE site? I think I'm going to go for an unlocked one from Apple directly this time around...

The dodgy reception is really putting me off. It's unlike Apple to release such shoddy hardware.

I was playing around with a friend's iPhone 4 at the weekend, and I didn't find the "weak spot" to be an issue at all. In fact, it took quite bit of effort to cause it. The "death-grip" thing, on the other hand, is a non-issue imo as every phone I've ever had suffered from it, but I didn't notice that either. The signal was pretty strong in the area though so maybe that was a factor. But he's had it two weeks and said he found reception much better than the 3GS. *shrugs*

I'm not getting an iPhone 4 as my 3GS is still fairly new, but based on that I wouldn't hesitate to buy one. Try and get some hands on experience if you can and decide for yourself. I really think all this hoo-ha over the antenna is bullsh*t. There's a "weak spot" alright, but it seems like a reasonable trade-off considering the much improved reception.

I'm of the understanding - and it's not based on any hard evidence, which isn't a good thing - that the issues might have been worst with earlier or particular batches, and there is talk that the newer units have less of this trouble. They're even physically somewhat different, apparently.

I know a man, who was impatient and absolutely had to have the lastest iPhone, so he got it up North. I believe that he's happy with the hardware, but didn't care for iOS4, too buggy for him.

If I know I could spare the money, I would get it, but for me it really does need to be a decent phone, rather than a fancy new piece of kit which doesn't actually work that well. It's basic sense to me; if doesn't work right, then it doesn't matter if it's new or potentially could be amazing, it's a poor purchase. I'll be very interested to see the feedback here, if people are happy with it once they get past the shiny-shiny :)

If I was to get an iPad I would get it on O2 because they have edge in non 3g areas. Voda just have gprs in non 3g areas

    I don't think the iPad has edge capability...only 3G

At this stage it's looking like there will be no pre-order and I'm even wondering if they'll put it up on the website next week even. It seems unbelievable that the iPad is only currently sold in stores and not from Apple's online store directly - when has that ever happened before? The iPhone "launch" here will probably be even worse IMO...

    €599 & €699?

    Price for iPhone 4 16GB €599 iPhone 4 32GB €699 sim free so only a €10 difference between the Vodafone Pre-pay price.
