Attic Insulation

    Attic Insulation
My attic is converted for storage with a nicely finished carpeted floor and styra folding stairs for access. The two sides of the attic, which are not converted, are well insulated. However the cenral main part of the attic seems to be leaking heat from my house. I peeled back a corner of the carpet and lifted a small segment of the floor. There is one layer of fibrglass insulation. The joists are only about 4 inches deep, so there is not enough room to be squeezing in additional layers.

Can anybody tell me the best way to improve the insulation of this attic?

One person told me that I could lift the entire floor altogether and put Triseo Superfloor 10 down and relay the floor on top of it?

Another option would be to raise the joists? and increase the fibreglass insulation between them and then relay the floor. But this seems to me to be a lot of trouble, especially since the attic floor is currently carpeted and nicely finished with skirting board.. etc.

    Would be thankful for suggestions.

Hello, you could sheet the existing floor with Insulation slabs. These are 8x4 sheets, you could cut to fit, but you will need the head height. The Insulation could be 50mm thick. It would need to be High Density so as to avoid damage to the insulation. You could then cover with carpet/etc. Be careful of the extra height near the ladder. If you think this is a good idea, i could give you more details. Very good question
