Hi, I'm flying from knock next month and just wondering if there is any cheaper alternative to the expensive airport parking. Going Thursday to Sunday so any help would be appreciated.

You can park down the road from there or get someone to drop you off - there is a business park nearby too but lots of folk just park outside the car park or down the road a bit:)

Jeez what a ripoff 35 euro for 4 days parking plus the 10 euro departure fee on top of Ryanair charges. Should've thought this one through more thoroughly.

When compared to Dublin airport Knock has very similar if not cheaper car parking rates when you consider you are literally parked outside the terminal door which would be compared to short term terminal A in Dublin which is actually much more expensive. The next two options are the same price, Knock actually cheaper if you go over four days it's the same as 7 €35 but Dublin charge per the day which is obviously more expensive. The other two options from the DAA site include bus journeys to the airport which takes out a lot of convenience as you have to get the airport a lot earlier just 'in case'. As other posters said you can park close enough to the airport on the grass there anyway so you won't be paying anything.

Another point if you look at the breakdown of taxes on a Knock to London Luton flight it comes to €25 while for a Dublin to London Luton it's actually €36, so bearing the €10 development charge your actually coming off €1 better, it's not the world but it is overall cheaper. I know this development charge gets bad press but it really is needed to keep the place a float and money earned means cheaper landing fees for the low cost carriers as without them it would be just another field on the hill. I wish they could go about the development fee in another way but in the meantime it's just the way it is.

Sorry if I come across too supportive, I certainly don't work for the airport but use it a lot and to be fair from using all London airports and Dublin on a regular basis find it so friendly asnd a joy to use whenever I get chance.

or here is an excellent idea they could have airport charges like most other airports in the world and not have these ADF which are airport charges which should be included in the airfare and bull of airlines paying some charges and passegners get there flights but have to pay more airport charges.

That's not quite correct €44 is for 8 days.

Once you go over 7 days park you be charged for another naturally. It's the same in Dublin, Shannon, Cork airports and other major commercial car parks around the country.

You just find a near by tesco or supervalue up the road, leave the car there and get a cab.

Having got lucky and a neighbour dropped me out to the airport , I found when I got there I had checked in online but had no print out, only to find they have NO pc or printer terminals for you to use. One of the staff very kindly printed out for me but if I hadn't got that done its another 70 euro !!! So be warned , print out before you get there, unless you carry a portable printer for just such occasions :)

Hi all, I park my car on roadside in Charlestown and get the bus which goes to the airport €2 somehow €3 for return journey? never been able to figure that out ah its Ireland?? Problem is buses are quite infrequent you need the one from Sligo. On the return journey the Westport bus will do so you need to research. You can always get a cab €15. I have left my car parked for up to 4 wks never a problem. Bonn Voyage!
