There was somewhere in Dublin selling them. I can't remember where. Expect to pay a substantial premium. €100-200 extra. It might be wise to wait a while. It's meant to be out this month - supposedly.

There's a mobile phone store at the top of abbey street (up near the garda ombudsman office, close to capel street) that does them, not sure if they'd have the 3g model (remember you need a mini sim (instructions online for creating one)). I'm sure boingo has enough wireless hotspots throughout the city to make it viable for a yearly subscription, they've got 452 hotspots in dubberland according to their website and nearly sure that all eircom phoneboxes are also boingo wireless.

Seen news reports of August / September.

You can also ring up the Apple store in NI and reserve now. You get 24 hours to pick it up though.

Worth stressing that this shop isn't an Apple Agent. Not saying anything about them; just that they are aren't an Apple Agent;)

Ha ,That is that dodgy place gsm solutions .These are the same guys as *********s that are selling an iphone battery off ebay for 40 euro plus 5 delivery euro ,price on ebay is 5 euro.

They have been trying to sell this at an extortiate price since it was released in the states , they are asking for 750 !!!! excluding delivery ,for the non 3g 16gb version. Deleivery is up to 14 days. About the same time it takes to order it from America I guess:(

I'm getting very sceptical about a release this month. Pre-orders surely would have started by now. I reckon Apple will begin pre-orders at the end of the month with delivery set for late August/September.

I walked up to the shop, bought a 3G battery for €35, walked out, went home, changed battery, didn't appear that bad, OP wanted to know if they were for sale in Ireland didn't recommend them, if the op really wants one take a 2hr trip to belfast.

I am sure the battery is fine. But ,for instance, Just searched google and this place, gsm solutions, is selling the same iphone 3g battery which is on ebay for £8,99 and they are selling it for 35 euro? .I can't post a link for battery on *********s for some reason?? but it is the exact same if you google it.

That company's name was added to the swear word filter as they were constantly spamming! ;)

If you are earning the equivlalent of a steak dinner out in a fancy restauraunt with a beer and dessert every time you sell a battery .I could see how spamming might be worthwhile!

Waiting list in Belfast is approx 2-3 weeks. Might be better now.

PC World, Dixons and Currys would rank below my local flea market as a good place to buy a Mac from knowledgeable well informed staff :D

No need to bash them. In the absence of Apple stores, shouldn't we feel grateful that there is at least some kind of shop where you can go in, look at the product and maybe buy it. People interested in getting one will already know everything there is to know about it. If you are looking for "knowledgeable well informed staff" you should go here.

There are other shops out there at which you can do it as well. Mactivate, Bondigroup, the Mac Shop, O2 Experience, Harvey Normans, Compu B, Evad and Bang Oulfsen to name a few. However, if you ever have had the fortune to go into a PC World shop and ask a simple question or heaven forbids a return you will know what I am saying rings true and that the customer experience is not at all good.

Had no problem when I exchanged one TimeCapsule for another.

So, is the iPad sold out anywhere yet?

The one I wanted (i.e. only one I could afford) is sold out from my local PC World.

No online orders either - thanks for nothing, Apple.

According to the thread over at the Curry's forum - were you not looking for a 16GB 3G iPad?

Good to see you can "afford" that and not the WiFi model at €100 less! :pac:

This thing rocks !!!! Have to mug my bank manager and get me one :) Playing with one here in Dixons in the airport much to the annoyance of onlookers eager to get their hands on it ...

    Touché.

Although, I kinda assumed the WiFi one was gone as well. I'm just trying convince myself that I can't afford the 32GB.

Oh, and are you stalking me, basq? *looks over shoulder* :pac:

Typing this from my iPad. Turns out PC World still had 16GB Wi-Fis after all. So i'm a happy camper. Have to go to work soon though so don't have long to play with it.

Normally when you make it clear you want a mac, they completely lose interest in any of the above named stores.

:D That seems to be a common complaint. A guy I work with was explaining to us on Friday that if he got one "for his kids", then they would leave his iPhone, iMac and MBP alone. Will find out tomorrow if he has acquired a new toy.

You can buy them online at the apple store?

I got the iPad 64GB 3GS. It is very very good. I've started to use my desktop less and less.

Kinda off topic. Looking for a 16GB wifi only iPad. What is the wait time like when buying from the online store, it's saying 7-10 days but just wondering is this accurate at the moment? Compub in Cork thought they might have them today but won't have them until a week from Friday :(

I ordered one (32gb wifi) on the 1st August and it's says it won't be shipped until the 16th :(
