Make a list of things you need to do instead of carrying the list in your head. Its a lot less worry.

Only works if your not stressed about having too much to do and not enough time to do it.

Drink more water, and realise that you will have to let something slip, and its best not to let that thing be your own health.

    Then exercise.

What I find works for me is sitting in a low lighted room with some music on in the background,or watching my favourite movies helps aswell.Even going for a walk in a woods or across some fields really helps, excellent for airing out the cobwebs.

I do Muay Thai and got back into the gym sessions aswell. Running also helps try to get out once a week on top of other exercise if that helps. Great way of meeting new friends aswell.

Excerise is defo the number one way..

I used to work with a truck driver who would get wound up while driving the truck, traffic would bother him, so he started taking these herbal tablets called "Calms", jesus they made some difference to him.. You could try them.

On a lighter note, sex is a serious stress buster:D

If you're asking how to chill out, exercise is hands-down the best option especially if you don't already do it regularly. Irregular exercise is most unhelpful. Gym membership can be expensive, whereas a martial arts or yoga class or can be more effective and cheaper. I find attending classes is better at reducing stress as you are "forced" to follow simple instructions, so your brain can actually chill out for a while too.

But, tackle the root of your stress also. I have used biofeedback training (sometimes called Cognitive Behaviour Therapy or "CBT" ... but not to be confused with a fetish activity with the same acronym) and I found it very useful.

Stress is often caused by not being "in the now", but instead worrying about some vaguely threatening future situation. Focus on the present. Take small steps. Breathe !!!

Breathe !! Learn how to do this properly. In today's rushed society we have forgotten this simple skill.

    Be at peace,

tnx for all the comments guys . i will take all on board. i am at the moment doing a CBT Therapy course. It is called Stresspac. It works on a 3 system approach , your thoughts, your actions and your bodily system.( known as TAB ). It;s seems to be interesting reading. It deals with relaxation breathing among other issues. My problem is generated by a generalised anxiety disorder . I will let you know how it goes. thank you for all the replies.

I like golf to chill out, hitting balls at the driving range for an hour just kinda zones me out. Also, I find watching golf or snooker on tv really relaxing for some reason. For the girlfriend, it's being creative and making mosaics or doing yoga/pilates. I think everyone has their own little hobby/activity that helps them in this way so worth trying a few new activities.

    Stress.

    There's two types....

The type of stress you can deal with.
The type of stress you can't do anything about.

But you can brake the stress you can deal with down...
Being under pressure working to a dead line. (which personally I find very satisfying.
I always found relaxing music, a very good tool. there more irate the music the more you get worked up which is a fact, and worth taking note on.
exercise, reading and even cooking your self a nice meal all can help..

Anxiety, I think there's two different types...positive and negative. If its negitive I generally deal with it bye excepting it feeling it and for what ever the situation I'm in not to be to hard on my self.

as for positive anxiety going on dates meeting girls etc etc.. Well that's just fun :D

    Check the username ;)

Exercise and do it hard, I want to see a good sweat OP!
Whatever you want, for me it was running and listening to classical music greatest composer around imo, he does a lot of music for TV ad and film trailers) my ipod, for you it might be lifting weights.
Ideally, it would be a combination of the two.

In the morning, and you've a knot in your stomach going into work, write a do it list and stick to it.
I used to go into work 20 minutes early and get organized. Make things easy for yourself so you're not fighting fires.

Feeling stressed and upset after a days work or dealing with someone? Ever break down into tears on Dublin bus at 6pm and you're a grown man? :o
Well don't do what I did for years! That was distracting myself eating junk food in Supermacs 5 evenings a week and ordering take-aways "ah shure I deserve it after what I've gone through today" but food was just to distract me if I think about it now.
And drinking wine and cans of beer maybe 6 days a week, think I did 25 days in a row before heading to the doctor.

So if you're mind is racing at night, get a notebook and write down your feelings and what you are thinking for 10 minutes or so before going to bed.
    It gives you closure.

I know nothing about prescription drugs, realy exercise is a drug if you think about it.
But go see a GP if you need someone to talk to.

    Best of luck!

    Many excellent suggestions above.

For instant de-stress (to use in conjunction with the other suggestions) use lavender oil and rescue remedy.

Lavender oil (about €10 in most pharmacies and health food shops): Pour a little onto your finger and then rub into your philtrum (space between your nose and mouth) and then breath in deep through your nose.

rescue remedy (same price and available in the same places): Do not follow instructions on the label. Instead rub it onto your wrists where your veins are visible.

    Driving range.
Video games with lots of explosions/gun fire always soothe my soul.
Pint or two in the local with one of the lads.
    A holiday?
