Those PCs are not the same with Dell,

Duo (2) core processor from Dell compared to Quad (4) core processor with Aldi

Intergrated Graphics (*puke* from Dell and a HD4200 with Aldi

for 500 its not bad but its not that great either.

Probably be able to play some of the newer games at medium settings without much trouble.

The 570's from dell are actually a better comparison and you can get an X3 with 4gib ram with the same integrated HD4200 graphics for €450 has a smaller hard drive though.

The 4200 that comes with the Aldi PC is integrated?

The HD4200 is an integrated card. To be honest, it would choke and die on any recent game. You could probably run the likes of CSS or Half Life 2 on it though.

Ahh didnt realise that, doesnt mention that its integrated.

For €100 (25%) more, it's not really much better than the one they had back in January for €399.

so, and taking into account it's built in wireless N , is there anything else out there that can beat this at the same price?

    Thanks.

Would people go for a Dell ahead of this so?

Personal experience... I'd prefer to deal with a three year warranty from Aldi when compared to an Indian based service centre one year warranty from Dell

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,916 ✭✭✭podgeandrodge

and spec wise - can this be beaten at the price anyone?

Yeah would love to have a good PC recommended that's under 500 quid if possible.

It would be for internet, photo and video editing and games like football manager...

Snap - Dell "customer support" is akin to banging your head off a brick wall. Last 2 times I bought from them I took off the years service etc because you won't get it anyway - just frustrate yourself and end up with machine still not working.

This should be fine for that. Got a Medion from Aldi a while ago and Im very happy with it. If you want to play any decent games you'll have to update the graphics card tho, and theres no monitor included.

    ^^ This :)

In the market for a new desktop which would be used for pretty much the same as above.

Thinking about getting one of these tomorrow, before I spend my hard earned money can anyone recommend something for around the same price that they think would be better?

considering I'll have to buy a monitor too say budget around 600/650 max?

So did anyone get one? I held off in the end vaguely hoping for another offer in the near future with a usb3 feature...

Wife sent me to Aldi to buy 2 cans of pears this morning and I came home with no pears and the Aldi PC and the eSATA 1TB hard drive :o

It's advertised as being Windows 7 Home Premium 32 bit edition but the Recovery CD included with it says it contains Win 7 64 bit edition - is it easy to upgrade or worth it if I won't be putting more than 4gb of ram into it?
