Okay, I'm in the UK, and waiting for my social work qualification to come through. That could be September, and before that some agencies have told me i can do social work assistant job. Last week I applied for some social care work, as support worker, considerably less money but thought it could be something I am capable of doing and have experience in. I got it, and I have to sign the contract on Tuesday, and they have told me they are waiting on my police check to come back, which could be August..

What if say, next week I am lucky to get offered another better paid job? Do I just tell the company I am leaving? I don't want to take the pis* out of anyone, but honestly, at the moment, one or two weeks worth would be a blessing as really skint.

Is it okay to leave a job for a better one even if I haven't or have juts started?

    thanks

In an ideal world don't take the job.

But we are not living in an ideal world, so take whatever job you can get.

Thanks munstergirl; yeah it's a case of that really, strapped for the cash, it's work I could do well, but if I got offered a job that pays 10k more the week after I'll be taking that.

    Just the irish guilt ;)

take the job...no guarantees of future work, you'd be silly not to..a bit different if you had a job lined up in a couple of weeks and you took this one without mentioning anything.
