This video is quite old and a lot of you have probably seen it.. but we had a conversation about it last night.

The guys clearly mentally handicapped, but at the same time, he's just kicked your kid.

You could say the father just reacted when he saw his son being hurt.. but at the same time, surely it would have been a better example for your son, if you pulled him to one side and explained that the guy is touched and that violence is not the way to solve a problem like this.

    What would you have done?

if you describe someone as a 'retard' would you describe the current president of america as a '******'

you video shows that there is plenty of hate on the internet

To me, it makes no difference that the bloke was a retard.

Undeserved. He barely tipped the kid.

Id probably do the same and punch him in the face instinct would take over if I had seen a grown adult assaulting a child

We see the guy for 30 seconds before the kid and his father come in. We might assume the guy is mentally disabled based on his behaviour. The father didnt see that. the kid runs in ahead of his father, guy comes over and kicks him, father sees this, reacts and punches the guy.

there's no way you can say the father knew the guy was disabled.

How would I react? probably not with punches, but I can understand why the guy did.

what happened earlier, was the man seeking police assistance as he was being taunted for clearly being 'different' and not hiding away from view,

was the child being allowed come back at him

how come the older man was so ready with the punch...

are videos supposed to be posted inside AH?

it does not surprise me that someone with an east european name such as drakovich would seek to trumpet the word 'retard'

after all the most successful death camp of them all was in poland: auswitch, and the intellectually vulnerable were the first to be murdered by gassing with xylon b

there is a sinister approach to difference be it gayness or disability in parts of eastern europe and a high level of neo nazi groups

this is ireland, toe the line ... or go into our prisons

i refer you to our incitement to hatred legislation

Seeing that video almost made me cry:/
I have a severely autistic brother and even imagining someone punching him in the face and him not being able to explain himself ( He can not talk as his speach is very underdevolped) hurts so much. Personally, if I had a kid and an adult kicked them, I would go over to them and ask them why he did it.
Growing up with my brother, our family had to go through alot of **** when people would pass mean comments about him not knowing his mental state of mind.

Dont think i would have punched him becuase the kid looked unhurt,
he only gave him a light kick to the leg.

my brother in law had to explain to people similar to drakovich above that he was now going to request garda assistence if his 5 year old downs syndrome child was going to be treated with any more aggression at a dublin playground

he was polite but made it clear that he meant business..they left, plenty haters out there, plenty

Where is facekicker gone when you need a dilemma like this solved

He barely kicked the child and, especially if the guy is mentally disabled, the punch was utterly disproportionate and completely out of order.

Whacking somebody like that in front of your child is also an extremely stupid thing to do.

moonpurple, the gardaí will not come to a playground because 5 year olds are fighting.

on topic, nah i wouldn't smash a retard, if it was an all-out assault on a kid i'd do what needed to be done, but not for a 'kick' like that.

I would've kicked the **** out of him after I bought my KFC

instead of losing my place in line...

Prejudice is prejudice. Your racism is no better than his ignorant use of the word. You can get off your high horse, because you have already lowered yourself to his level.

Plus Godwin's law never ceases to amaze me.

Aye, that just occurred to me after I posted. Good call: you're right.

Personally, I'd automatically think somebody wasn't all there if they did that and I'd probably angrily question them first. I hope that would be enough to ascertain that they were disabled.

I don't think you should really whack somebody in front of your kids though unless you had to defend yourself or something.

The down syndrome bloke barely touched the kid, there is no way he hurt him, there was no need to punch the poor like that. The father of the kid (assuming he's the father) is a scumbag, that was totally un called for!

I said it makes no difference to me that he's a retard.

Can't view the video in work so not able to comment fully on what happened. But the fact this bloke is labelled a "retard" is the focal point of this topic. Even according to 1 of the posters above, it's not clear the father would of known this bloke was a retard.

How would I be able to determin that, if I saw someone acting violently to my kid?

Your brother in law's issue is entirelly different, that's clear cut out and out bullying.

I'd buy the retarded man an ice-cream to calm him down. He can have a flake if he wants, but no sprinkles!

    We/I can do without this.
