    Hello all,

myself and a friend of mine are embarking shortly on an epic adventure around ireland.

We plan to hit the 32 counties of the Island of Ireland in as many nights, starting at home on 2nd August in Waterford, and leaving for Cork the next day.

If anyone would like to know more, or would like to follow our little adventure... were going to be blogging and uploading pictures and the like on a regular basis.. when were not too busy having to much fun.... you can see our page on facebook... 32 Counties 32 Nights.

So now you know why we ask that if anyone has any suggestions of places "not to miss" in any county, we would love to know.

We are also looking for challenges to try complete on the travels...

we already have the likes of:
    • Collect 40 shades of green
    • a photo beside every "welcome to this county" sign
    • play a song... (32 counties by dustin, if we can get the chords)
    • have a different drink in every county
    • get someone to say in the local (and hopefully really thick accent) 32 counties in 32 nights.
    • some others as well....
so if anyone has any more, please, we would love to know!

You will find this difficult in Northern Ireland

Unlike the Republic, Northern Ireland's local government is not organised by county.

Thus when you enter a new county in the North you may see a sign like 'Welcome to Colraine and West Lagan District Council' rather than 'Welcome to Co......'

cheers... i never would have thought of that!

hmmmm I wonder if there would be any signs with the "traditional" county names on them in the north...

For example... "County" GAA Boards or buildings... if theres one for each of the 6 NI "trad counties"

Would you think this would work out? or would anyone have any other alternatives?

    Great idea.
Are you travelling in a camper or just winging the accomodation.
You should get pledges of accomodation from each county!!!

To quote Ray Foley when these kids hijacked his radio show today-
    "What a pair of gobsh!tes"

I see here no mention of yer fundraising in the original plans? Was that just an idea to help get the funds to travel around Ireland? Doubt Ray Foley show listeners will be giving ye much based on todays performance.

    what happened on todays performance?

Well, I know on the road from Derry to Strabane, there is a sign "Co Tyrone" on entering the county

They rang in when Foley was doing a bit on kids going back to school,
lied to whoever answered and said one of them had a kid just starting school, got live onto the radio just to say love the show and 'remind' people about their trip.

Foley flipped as he had them on a month ago advertising their little trip. Called them a pair of liars and gobsh!tes.

So what is happening now? Are 32 counties 32 nights still on their trip? Tried looking up facebook for it but I don't see anything about it. I've always wanted to do something like this but could never get a friend to come with me. Would love to hear how the trip went, what the upsides were and the downsides.

    What?
All councils are organised within the boundaries of the county they're in (with the exception of Belfast City which extends in to Down), so when you enter Tyrone after crossing the Bann you'll see welcome to Tyrone followed by a sign saying Dungannon and south Tyrone Borough.

So there's a county sign at the border of each county, I don't know why you're post annoyed me so much, probably because there's no such thing as "West Lagan District Council"
