Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. how's is Oyasumi not new? it's part of the richter collective label sampler :pac:

the video is new, but the song is old

you missed a great gig, sure there'll be plenty more announced when the album drops.

word on the street is that there is a richter collective festival gonna happen soon.

I would withdraw my previous image from the threat in that case.

in tower on the 20th august at 1pm and the 23rd august.

according to the adebisi shank last.fm page.

tower will be crazy on both those days.

shank and BATS will also be amazing on friday, can't wait, two of my favourite irish bands at the moment.

Saw these guys at Castlepalooza and really liked them. One of the guys wears an odd looking mask/scarf over his face. Catches the eye at a festival.

you've got to hear this on vinyl.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,034 ✭✭✭rcaz

Listened to it through again on SoundCloud today, and I really like it. I like it better than the 10" I have (What's the name of that? 'This Is a 10" by the Band Adebisi Shank' or something?) .

My mate said he didn't like it so much, that it sounds like they've become a pop band. But I think the sound is great, a definite change of direction.

Gonna try get it on vinyl when I get paid next, the sleeve looks tasty!

Lol. Adebisi being pop? Over-reaction of the f*cking century. I am still waiting for my copy to be delivered but going by the streams it's going to be another stormer. Masa is stompin'. Potential to be a Whelans floor-filler for decades.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,034 ✭✭✭rcaz

I said 'sound like they've become', not that they are a pop band. Do you not think the new album sounds a lot more radio friendly than the first?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 8,452 ✭✭✭Time Magazine

They've shifted their sound from what could be described as "mental metal" to "mental Japanese rock". It's a change in tone, agreed. I'm not sure if it's more accessible or not, probably is, but it's still only agreeable to about 1% of the population.

    Dear Adebisi Shank,

Please could you return the roof that you tore off our music venue last night?

    Regards,

    Whelans.

Spectacular performance from Adebisi last night, i thought whealans was going to explode at one point. Bats were great too.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 26,584 ✭✭✭✭Creamy Goodness

possibly the best gig i've ever been too, if not then it certainly was the best gig by an irish band that i've been to.

    it will take some topping.

never noticed this but Oyasumi isn't on the new album, for some reason i thought it would be.

They lobbed it onto the downloadable first one.

I'm obsessed with the new album, it's brilliant. They're like no one else around at the moment (that I've heard). So pissed I couldn't go on Friday, sounds class.

Here's an excellent review of the gig from one of my favourite music blogs. It covers just about every sweat-dripping second of the gig:

    Personally, I think they're over-rated.

Gigs '24 - Ben Ottewell and Ian Ball (Gomez), The Jesus & Mary Chain, The Smashing Pumpkins/Weezer, Pearl Jam, Green Day, Stendhal Festival, Forest Fest, Electric Picnic, Pixies, Ride, Therapy?, Public Service Broadcasting, IDLES(x2), And So I Watch You From Afar

Not sure if there are many Adebisi Shank fans left in here but they have just confirmed that they are splitting up and they will play their last ever Irish shows this Thursday and Friday in Whelans.

The bass player put out an album a few years ago which I thought was great. If you like 80's style video game electronic music have a listen.
