Hi, I was just wondering if anybody could tell me. If you're applying for a job, can a prospective employer go ahead and call one of your previous employers as listed in your job history on your CV before interviewing you, even when you haven't given any references?

thats not the normal procedure they normally only ring references once they have offered you the job and its only then that you should hand over your references for them to check but no they shouldnt be ringing your job history to check you out bad form IMO

Yeah that's what I figured. Bad form, but not officially wrong.
