Are the power sockets on trains only on the 22000s or are they on the MK4s too?

Only the 22000s. The Mk4s only have a couple per coach.

Any idea roughly where they are on the coach? Would be handy for laptop etc. The 22000s seem to have sockets everywhere!

They're usually at the very end of the coach. I know there's two beside the toilets and I think one near the wheelchair bay.

There is also a few sockets on the 2700 WCR Railcars and Darts, I guess that these are meant for maintenance only. :p

I did notice a power socket under the table nearest the drivers cab on the commuter railcar used for the Limerick shuttle - I didn't check the number but I guess they are using 2700s?

What about the ones on the DARTs? There is one at either end of the carriage. I tried using one to charge my phone but there was no power coming out of it.

Those are for maintenance and cleaning, switch is probably accessible by staff only .

there is a circuit breaker switch on the sockets that may have been in the off position.

    http://irishrail.ie/home/faq.asp?faq_id=12#12
All Dublin/Cork direct trains (MK IV fleet ~ click here to see an image) there is two 220V sockets in each standard class coach behind seats 05 & 06 and in Premier class there is a 220V socket for each seat 01-44.

On all of the new trains (silver trains ~ 22000 Class fleet click here to see an image) currently being introduced into service on all routes. There is a 220V socket in every seat Premier class and all standard class coaches.

on some of the commuter railcars there are sockets under the last tables on each end of the carrriage and on the others there are two sockets at each end of carriages under the seats where the doorway adjoining the carriages is.

Did I hear that they added power sockets to the wi-fi enabled train?

doubt it very much, surely the carriages would need a complete rewireing job to allow for it?

They may as well re-wire them while they're off for maintenance, nah that would make too much sense.

power sockets on the 29s are next to the dvers cab one on each side. so on an 8 piece set you will have 4 cabs so 8 sockets

There are 4 in each carriage afaik from being on those commuter trains going to Sligo. They are under the first row of seats on each side of either the drivers cab door or the connecting door between carriages. So two each end of each carriage

Not quite, within carriages, you could easily fit an electrical conduit within the air-conditioning duct. There may be an issue of backhaul and hooking up the ~400 sockets to the generator though and then certifying things.

surprising they have not tried this yet on their "top of the line" service, passengers should have the extra convenience of a socket considering the high prices paid for such a slow service!
