Dont know if anyone else has seen that seahorse man show on rte.

Fair play to the guy, his business was about to hit the wall and he got it together, changed the model and started making thousands in profit a week.

Anyone else know of any other niche sectors that are doing well?

Only caught the end of it unfortunately. Is the seahorse project part of it dead or still ongoing, also what part of Ireland is he based in?

I've been watching the show and found it very interesting. Gives a good overview of the highs and lows and stresses and strains of running a business like that.

I'm not sure I'd word it quite like that.

Given that it's an owner who has a real passion for his work, was/is willing to work 24/7, has outstanding expertise in the area, carried out genuinely innovative R&D work, made superb breakthroughs in his field (granted some of these aren't 'directly' related to the more recent success he achieved on the show with the more commercial twist his operations took), has a genuine aptitude for getting people 'onside' (his ability to get others to chip in and help out is genuinely inspiring), had/has an unquestionable determination and invested 8 odd years of his life living in less than 'ideal' circumstances to get to where he was... I'd suggest it's less to do with the 'niche' and more to do with the person in this specific case.

Have to say it's great to see someone with his passion and love for what he does go on to succeed, even if it had its bumps along the way and didn't quite work out on the 'initial' attempt.

Ehhh, I'll not say too much on the 'seahorse' side of it for those watching the show and have avoided the urge to google up on where he's currently at.

At the end of the episode this evening, he was operating the commercial aquarium in Dublin (just off the Red Cow) and previously (for a number of years prior to the move) had been doing the seahorse breeding research in Galway (Carna).

Just watched the last three episodes there. Very impressive.
Whats happening with the Sea horses now as he just seems to be dealing with fish?

I was in his store yesterday at lunchtime (behind the Red Cow Hotel in Dublin). Its an amazing shop, well laid out, fantastic fish and tanks, clean, healthy looking fish.
One of the guys brought us upstairs out the back to see the breeding rooms and showed us the seahorses tanks. Looks great and fair play to him.
Best place ive seen in a while to buy fish, tropical or freshwater!

P.S. I have no affiliation with the above, just a happy visitor! :)

Glad to see him bounce back hopefully he can make enough to repay the revenue and the investors who got burned with his seahorse laboratory

I've been down to this shop a few times recently... It's a fantastic place, even sent them an email to let them know that. Was out on Saturday with a mate looking to get some bits for our tanks.. Visited 7 shops in Dublin that specialize in fish keep and seahorseaquariums was leagues above the rest... It's a fantastic place, the staff are unreal.. Tis great! And it seems to be starting to rub off on others, there's a new place that's quite similar in Swords,Fish Furs n Feathers that seems to be taking the same approach - Having great, knowledgeable staff, a clean shop and well cared for fish/plants etc
