I'm 17 and I really need a job for the rest of the summer. What shops hire teenagers, none of the shops like h&m or new look seem to hire anyone not in uni, anyone know anything about tesco/dunnes/anywhere else I'm not thinking of?

Tesco and Dunnes used to hire people over 16, I'm sure.

It's a bit late though looking for summer work there as it's now mid July. Go in and ask them if they have any vacancies.

Yep, the big chains of supermarket are your only man. Or fast food places, if there are any jobs available. Might be worth ringing around local landscaping and gardening companies if there are any too.

Cool, I really should have started earlier but I was supposed to be on a French exchange that fell through so I never got anything organized :/ Would you need to have some kind of experience? I have done work experience in an A&E, the body shop and an estate agents plus a tonne of babysitting, are those all irrelevant? What kind of pay would you get a week do you think?

You should try a few pubs as well, there always hiring.

It's been years since I worked in supermarkets but I can't imagine relevant work experience being an issue for someone your age.

I would assume you would get minimum wage.

Dunnes and Tesco will hire you. Other shops are not as likely to. Pubs always will- but be aware of your rights, you're not allowed work past 10 (in retail anyway) and if the same applies to pubs, they are probably unlikely to strictly adhere to that. The starting rate in Dunnes is €9.13. Do NOT hand your CV into a regular checkout/tillbank- more than likely mislaid. Always hand them in to the relevant customer service desk!

Good luck getting into any of the supermarkets. I've been trying Supervalu, Dunnes and Tesco for the last two years to no avail.:(
