So now Iv tried to uninstall it, but I get a small error saying 'uninstaller component missing'

Id like to get rid of this problematic program, but dont know how.

Where did you try to remove it from. From within Control Panel Add/Remove Programs (in XP) or Programs (in Vista)?

Have you tried just downloading the latest version and installing?

What type of files are you trying to open?

VLC Player will probably play what ever files you are trying to open until you get the issue with RealPlayer sorted.. In fact a lot of people prefer VLC..

I havent tried that no, but I may. Thanks for the link, Ill use that player instead, if it works. If not Ill go about downloading the new RealPlayer then uninstalling it, thanks.

The file type is an MPEG-4 file.
